Refuge de la Martin

The next day we decided to hike to get a closer look at the glacier that we had seen from the road. The hikes starts from Tignes les Boisses (Tignes the woods) which is located below Tignes at an elevation of 1800meters.
The first part of the hike follows runs we skied in January, includind a black one which was probably the steepest part. From there we turned on a single track trail from which we could see a part of the dam and the Lac du Chevril.

After crossing the Vallon de la Sache, we left the ski area and followed the border of the Natural Park of the Vanoise.
Now a better view of the dam and the lake.
After a little while, we finally saw the refuge of La Martin, from which starts the climb to the glacier. Try to find it on the picture (that Oggy took)

From there, it took about 25 minutes to get to the foot of the glacier of La Savinaz. Pretty amazing.

And we found Oggy's new home.
One the way back, I took this picture from the refuge, with the top of the glacier to the right.
